Give us your tip-to-tip rod width.

For Decorative Traverse Rods, don't include the width of the finials. Just measure from the point where you want the rod to begin to the point where you want your rod to end.

 

Wall Mount Rods attach with brackets into your wall or on your trim. Ceiling Mount Rods attach to the ceiling with ceiling mount brackets, or by direct mount depending on your rod style.

For Decorative Traverse Rods, ceiling mount rods can only use End Caps, you won't be able to add a decorative finial to the end of a ceiling mount rod.

 

 

Make sure you enter the wall width for your window. Don't try to figure out the actual rod width. The factory will need to make the necessary deductions to account for your bend radius and your return size.

We're probably going to have to ask you to make a template. It's really easy to do with brown craft paper. Just lay it out on the floor and cut it to size to conform to the shape of your window.

 

Angles can be tricky. One of the easiest ways to find your degree of bend is to use two index cards or business cards. Position them in the corner of your window and tape them together to reproduce the angle. Then, lay them flat on a protractor to determine the degree.

Don't let the process overwhelm you, it's actually a lot easier than it seems. Just take it one measurement at a time and remember that we're going to review what you enter here and if anything looks off, we're going to call you before we start making your rod.

 

 

Pay attention to the Return size noted for the bracket that you choose. You can see from the diagram that the Return is the distance from the wall to where your drapery will hang. Make sure your Return size will allow the drapery to clear any obstacles underneath such as the handle of a sliding glass door or outside mount blinds or shades.

Yes, we know this page looks scary! There are a lot of options for custom made rods and we want to show you every possible configuration, just in case. But, for about 90% of all custom rods, the only sections you'll need to pay attention to are Width, Mounting Location and Color & Finials (for Decorative Traverse). This page won't let you "mess up" - if you make a selection that won't work with other options, we'll stop you and tell you why.

Set your Width & Mounting Location first. Most options are restricted by rod width and mounting location. So, set those two options first. If you come back to them later, we may have to override some of your other choices. If an option is disabled due to width or mount, we'll tell you why.

We've pre-selected all Standard Options for you. Again, about 90% of time, you'll need a wall mount rod, split draw, cord-right with a 86" cord drop, standard carriers, standard brackets with 3 1/2" to 4 1/2" return. So, we already filled in all of those options for you. You'll just need to glace over them to make sure that's what you need for your curtains and make any necessary changes.
