Drapery Lining

Drapery lining is used as a backing layer behind your face fabric. The most common types are generally referred to as lining, interlining and blackout lining. Drapery lining can be white, natural or ivory. Or, it can be color coordinated with your face fabric. Lining and interlining can make your drapery appear more full. And, it blocks light while providing additional insulation by blocking drafts.

Interlining is used between a face fabric and lining and is available in heavy or regular depending on the thickness you need. Heavier interlining is frequently used with more delicate or light weight face fabrics. Curtains constructed with both a lining and interlining typically operate more smoothly with a heavy-duty curtain rod with ball-bearing carriers because they are heavier than traditional lined panels.

Blackout lining is specially constructed to provide maximum light blockage. This type of lining is usually thicker and heavier than regular lining and is available in multiple colors. When used with interlining, blackout lining enhances insulation and also works as a sound barrier reducing outside noise.
