A great way to add a modern or contemporary feel to your window treatment is to use metal style curtain rod sets. With popular colors like chrome, brass and bronze, it's easy to coordinate your drapery hardware with other design elements in your room like cabinet knobs or door hardware.
Metal curtain rod sets don't always have to be contemporary. Many styles and finishes are considered quite traditional. An antique brass set with a ball finial or end cap, for example, can look great with any interior design style.
You'll find many smaller scale drapery poles featured with metal sets. Typically, rods for this style are one and three-eighths of an inch or under in diameter and most are manufactured as hollow-core. So, it's very important make sure you have plenty of brackets if your curtains are lined or interlined. Our complete metal drapery hardware sets come with all the brackets you need for standard weight panels, but if your curtains are very heavy, you may want to add a few extra brackets a-la-carte.
When you measure for your curtain rod set, take into consideration where you're going to install the brackets. If you intend to install your brackets on the window trim, make sure you have plenty of room for the finial that comes with your set. Most of time, it's a good idea to add three or four inches of pole on either side of your window. And sometimes even more if you want your curtains to stack off the window.
